Civil Engineer - Transmission Lines Full Time
LG&E | Earlington, KY
Provide engineering support for all phases of transmission line projects: including planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
Provides planning, engineering, and construction estimates to support the transmission capital plan.
Builds and analyzes 3D computer models of transmission line structures and wires using finite element analysis.
Develops, designs, and details wood and steel transmission structures.
Determines loads and analyzes capacity of wood and steel structures.
Engineering analysis of clearances to comply with company standards and the National Electric Safety Code
Develops specifications and requirements for geotechnical explorations.
Performs foundation design for transmission structures.
Preparation of construction documents, including plan and profile and detail sheets.
Development of wire sagging charts and computations.
Field work includes: surveying, construction inspections of foundations and structure installations, and wire sagging.
Provide inputs for engineering activities to support development of project schedules.
Work with budget analyst to provide monthly cash flows for project assignments.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Engineering Group or Team Leader.
Required Education & Experience
ABET Accredited Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.

Requirements:
- The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in Chemical Engineering and 5+ years of project, experience in Material Science & Engineering
- Explosives Engineering and processing is preferred
- Develop pilot or prototype production and manufacturing processes
- Knowledgeable with QC, experimental, developmental & analytical tests of raw materials and finished goods
- Formulation and product development
- Scale-up of manufacturing processes from laboratory to production.
- Problem solving/root cause analysis
- Manufacture and processing of explosives and chemical processes
- Lean Manufacturing and Quality Assurance
- Ability to conceptualize and apply innovative solutions as well as the ability to apply leadership and interpersonal skills to resolve routine problems
