I’m Molly Deahl and I’m a Business Liaison with the West Kentucky Workforce Board. One of the programs offered through the Workforce Board to our employers is On the Job Training. On-the-Job Training (OJT) is a work based training model that is designed to compensate the employer for lost production time and other training costs associated with hiring new employees. The employer hires an eligible individual, and agrees to train them in a new position, where the individual is being paid $12/hr or more with benefits. During the pre-determined training period, the WKWB will reimburse the employer 50% of the individual’s’ wages on a monthly basis. The goal of this program is that the employer gains a trained asset for their company, while getting some money back in their pocket, and the individual obtains self-sustaining employment.
