Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1.Provides complete and effective verbal or written communication with appropriate information to staff or coordinator / manager as applicable. Responds appropriately to customer requests using outstanding customer service skills. Maintains communication with Surgery (and other departments) concerning problems as they arise. Legibly and accurately records, complete requests, complies with requests, distributes item(s), and or forwards calls.
2.Maintains a working knowledge of all mechanical equipment and instruments. Maintains assigned department area insuring neatness, correct labeling, cleanliness, no item outdates.
3.Performs professional responsibilities. Attends in-services and unit meetings. Functions as a mentor for new employees. Adheres to unit dress code.
4.Coordinates and prioritizes supply, instrument and equipment requests by phone with other hospital departments. Makes decisions in crisis situations based on assessment and prompt action / intervention. Restocks par level, exchange carts, and emergency carts correctly/completely. Accurately documents all items distributed. Prep/pack of instruments / trays with a minimum of 99% accuracy. Prepares Surgery & Labor & Delivery case carts with 95% accuracy. Maintains individual productivity of 85% or greater. Monitors all instrument loss – replace, report and record lost instruments.
5.Assesses availability of and makes recommendations to manager for instruments / supplies needed in SPD. Uses Resq OR, Intranet and SPM system resources accurately and without difficulty. Uses material resources conservatively
6.Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job related hazards, and national patient safety goals.
7.Ensures positive customer relations interactions

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures Required:Associates or Vocational Degree from an accredited Certified Surgical Technician program is preferred, sterile processing certification (CRCST from IAHCSMM) is REQUIRED within two years of employment. EXPERIENCE: Sterile processing and Distribution experience preferred.
